Electron spins in quantum dots are one of the prime candidates for solid-‐state qubits. They interact with a complicated environment, in particular with the ensemble of nuclear spins of the quantum dot material. While this represents a challenge for high-‐quality qubits we show that it can be met by suitable preparation of the state of the nuclei and that the system supports collective quantum dynamics including "superradiance" and phase transitions.
